RoHS

The European Union's directives 2002/95/EC, 2005/717/EC, and 2005/747/EC for the "Restriction of Hazardous Substances" (RoHS) were published on February 13th, 2003.

These directives control the usage of specified hazardous substances in electronic and electrical equipment sold in Europe from July 1st, 2006. The materials specified are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and certain flame retardants use in plastics: polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). The threshold limit of the six above substances is also compliant to EU directive 2005/618/EC.

Tyan Computer Corporation, a market-leading designer and manufacturer of advanced x86 and x86-64 platform and system technology for OEMs, VARs and system builders worldwide, is committed to both compliance with the RoHS directives listed above, and to supporting customers in their compliance efforts.

Both of these objectives coincide with Tyan's commitment to supporting our future ecosystem.

To further substantiate this effort, Tyan is releasing a general state of RoHS compliance to the public. Click the link below to view or download the statement.

WEEE

The EC directive 2002/95/EC outlines the requirement for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) which is designed to manage the fast increasing waste stream of electrical and electronic equipment and complements European Union measures on landfill and incineration of waste.

Increased recycling of electrical and electronic equipment will limit the total quantity of waste going to final disposal. In order to prevent the generation of hazardous waste, directive 2002/96/EC requires the substitution of various heavy metals (lead, mecury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium) and brominated flame retardants (polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)) in new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market 1H'06.

Tyan Computer Corporation, a market-leading designer and manufacturer of advanced x86 and x86-64 platform and system technology for OEMs, VARs and system builders worldwide, is committed to both compliance with the WEEE requirements listed above, and to supporting customers in their compliance efforts.

Those products which are WEEE-compliant feature the graphic below as part of the finished product.
